Lower School
When boys first arrive at the school, aged 13, they follow a common yet comprehensive programme of study. This includes English, Maths, the Sciences, Geography, History, Religious Studies, French and Classics, as well as Art, Drama, Music and Electronics, Design and Computer Science. They also benefit from a broad Wellbeing (PSHE) programme and two afternoons of Sport each week.
As pupils progress through the school they are encouraged to make more of their own subject choices. In Years 10 and 11 boys are prepared for 10 or 11 GCSEs or IGCSEs, more than half of which they choose for themselves. All pupils must study Maths, English Language, English Literature, French and at least two of the three sciences; however, beyond that the choice of subjects is personal to each pupil and their parents.
